Simon J. Peabody Indigent Care Grant
A local community leader, Simon J. Peabody, left his legacy to the community in many ways. He died in 1934 in Daytona Beach, while he was alive he was supporting local non-profits. he donated the land that the Peabody Auditorium is build upon and before he died he left a fund to support Indigent Care in Volusia County
One long term way was to leave a fund entrusted to the Community Foundation that provides money each year for the cause he held dear. Mr. Peabody chose to leave a gift that would support Indigent Care in Volusia County. Though this gift was given in the 1930’s, because it was endowed it continues to give back today the grants we make each year.
The Community Foundation of East Central Florida is honored to carry out his wishes each year.
